OCD Therapy in Northern Virginia

Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) for Lasting Change

OCD can feel overwhelming, with intrusive thoughts and urges that are difficult to ignore. You may find yourself caught in patterns of overthinking, reassurance-seeking, or repetitive behaviors that temporarily reduce anxiety but ultimately keep you stuck. I offer OCD therapy in Northern Virginia, including Burke and Fairfax, using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based approach that helps you gradually face fears, reduce compulsions, and build a more grounded and flexible relationship with your thoughts.

Who I help:

You may benefit from OCD therapy if you are experiencing:

  • Intrusive thoughts that feel distressing, unwanted, or difficult to control

  • Repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (checking, reassurance-seeking, reviewing, counting)

  • A constant sense of doubt, uncertainty, or “what if” thinking

  • Fear of making mistakes, causing harm, or something bad happening

  • Feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety that interfere with daily life

OCD can show up in many ways, and it is not always visible from the outside. Whether your symptoms feel mild or more intense, therapy can help you better understand these patterns and begin to shift your relationship with them.

How I Help:

I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a structured and evidence-based approach for treating OCD. Rather than trying to eliminate intrusive thoughts, ERP helps you gradually face the situations, thoughts, or feelings that trigger anxiety while learning to resist the urge to engage in compulsions.

Together, we work at a pace that feels manageable, building your capacity to tolerate uncertainty and discomfort without relying on rituals or avoidance. Over time, this process helps reduce the intensity of anxiety and allows you to respond to thoughts with greater flexibility and confidence.

My approach is collaborative and supportive. In addition to ERP, I integrate elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other evidence-based approaches when helpful, so that therapy feels both structured and attuned to your individual experience.
